Negotiation in selling is quite a complex subject matter if we decide to analyse it in any great detail. Today in this article I'm not going to reach those depths as I will attempt to break it down to the most essential elements that I believe count the most when it comes to getting results. We all want the "Perfect Sale" but this can't really be achieved in most cases without some form of negotiation. Everybody uses negotiation in their everyday lives but some of us are better at it than others. Remember, in every negotiation there is always someone who comes out better. An expert sales negotiator can make a customer feel like they have "won" when in reality they haven't.

1. Expected Outcome

We cannot go into a negotiation successfully without having a clear picture in our head of the outcome we expect. We need to know the exact threshold of compromise if this is indeed one of our options. On the other hand, if we are able to give concessions it would be a much better strategy to incorporate these into the plan beforehand, so they can become that "extra card up the sleeve" when needed.

2. Positive Attitude

It's critically important to enter sales negotiation with a positive attitude in order to set the correct tone right from the outset. This can be helped by analysing all the competitive advantages and benefits beforehand which will in turn strengthen confidence in a successful outcome. Positivity is contagious and can therefore also influence the prospect's general attitude, making it more difficult for them to be negative.

3. Reading The Situation

Reading the prospect's state of mind and personality profile is probably one of the key factors in determining whether a sales negotiation will be successful or not. If you know how someone will react negatively or positively to certain behaviour you will be more likely to follow the flow of the surrounding energy. The one thing that you can never do in a sales negotiation is to contrast the prospect's opinion, whether they are right or wrong. I see this a lot so it's by no means obvious. Sales people often react instinctively when they don't like what the customer is saying. In my mind, this is like running out of petrol while driving through a dangerous ghetto. You've got yourself into trouble, but how are you going to get out of it?

In an ideal scenario the best negotiator, like a good chess player, will be able to look one or two steps ahead. This will depend on "Insight" and the ability to predict behaviour from the other side of the negotiating table. Obviously we can't always predict the outcome of the prospect's reaction but even if we can predict 60 or 70% we already have a distinct advantage.

4. Patience

Never over-react to the reaction. In fact reacting during the negotiating phase is bad in general. It would be much wiser to "respond" with a solution rather than reply with "impulsive" or "emotive" reactions. The best poker player never shows emotions and all great sales negotiators should do the same.

One good example of this could be negotiating on price. If the customer asks for a reduction in price, any signs of a chink in the seller's armoury could easily lead to a loss of control and a different perception of the overall value on the part of the prospective buyer.

So always remember that a little bit of brainstorming and planning before the sales negotiation will give the sales person the edge.

If the thought of telling your man you love him has crossed your mind often, and yet, you haven?t uttered those magic words, you may be feeling fearful of telling him you love him.

Hey, there isn?t anything wrong with admitting your fear of rejection, and frankly no one if exempt from those feelings. You would be surprised to find out that your man is just as fearful of saying those words to you are you are.

But can you really develop a relationship based on mutual understanding, honesty and deep emotional connection if you don?t communicate about your feelings? Truthfully, you both need to know where you stand in a relationship, and each of you has to have the reassurance that the relationship is moving forward.

Without honest, clear and direct communication neither one of you will have the security of a committed relationship.

Often, couples who are afraid to discuss their feelings struggle from not knowing just how secure their relationships are, what to expect from their partners in a relationship, what the responsibilities of a relationship are, and what obligations they have.

Additionally, talking about your true innermost feelings with your partner will draw him closer to you, and make him drop down his guard and defenses, and pave the path to a deeper emotional connection.

Intimacy is not all about what you get in bed. In fact, the real intimacy is emotional. It is that feelings of closeness that we get only with someone special. This is what separates casual relationships from committed. This is what separates the men from the boys, and the women from the girls, for that matter.

But how do you share your feelings with a partner when you are afraid of rejection?

First, you need to understand, that your fear doesn?t come from the fact that you love your man. Your fear is of your own making. It is all a product of the ego, and nothing else.

You are afraid that you may face rejection if you tell your guy you love him.

But truth is that if you don?t tell him how you feel about him, he won?t be able to open up to you and let his feelings for you develop.

The key to communicating your feelings is to thine own self be true! How do YOU really feel about your man? Do you love him? Do you admire him?

If so, express your feelings. Verbalize them in a non-threatening way, without expectations.

Be frank with him, but don?t expect neither positive nor negative outcome. Speak from your heart because that is the only way to establish intimacy and deep emotional connection. A woman who is confident enough to show her feelings is a real turn on for a man. A woman who is assertive, who doesn?t care what the world thinks of her, and who stays true to her feelings regardless of a possible outcome is a rare find, and men know that on a subconscious level.

The only time when you probably should avoid telling him you love him is when he?s never said it to you before. Wait for him to tell you he loves you first, and once you have the green light, open up about your own feelings.

A man who truly loves you will be turned on by your expression of love. The one who doesn?t love you, or the one who?s sitting on a fence can respond with a simple Thank You. If your man says that, then you know, he isn?t as into you as you are into him. But what do you have to lose?

It?s better to know the truth, and to know exactly where you stand in your relationship, than experience never-ending anxiety from not knowing how he truly feels about you and about your relationship. You won?t need to ask him where you stand in a relationship. All you need is to pay attention to what he says and what he does.

Well, Microsoft has officially left Apple as the only player in the Mobile field to not support real multitasking. With the next version of Windows Phone, background multitasking will be opened up to all devs, thanks to libraries provided directly by Redmond. During today's presentation two different background tasks were demoed, VoIP and location. The VoIP integration allows users to have calls come in, preferably via Skype if Microsoft has its way, without having the app running in the foreground and have them appear the same as a standard phone call. While watching for incoming calls is nice, a more commonly used feature is location monitoring. Now apps will be able to monitor location in the background while you perform other tasks. One by one, Microsoft is checking off boxes on our list of complaints about Windows Phone.

Following an eight-year run, the Champs Sports Bowl is no more? at least when it comes to title sponsorship.

The Orlando-based bowl?will officially be named the Russell Athletic Bowl (Ooohh!!! Aahhhhh!!!) beginning this year and will continue under that name through 2015. The?Florida Citrus Sports announced the move in a release today.?Champs Sports, which held the title sponsorship from 2004-12, will continue its relationship with Florida Citrus Sports as an ?Official Partner? of both the newly-named bowl and the Capital One Bowl through 2014.

Additionally, Russell Athletic will help negotiate the new conference agreements following the 2013 edition of the game.

This year?s?Russell Athletic Bowl?will be played Dec. 28 and feature an ACC-Big East matchup for the right to be named the fifth-best college football conference. Last year?s game featured an 18-14 win by Florida State over Notre Dame.

MediFit Corporate Services is a leading provider of onsite fitness and wellness solutions. We currently have an opportunity for a Part-Time Health Fitness Specialist at our client's corporate fitness facility in Warren, NJ. The position is for approximately 20 hours/week with a need to be flexible with scheduling for Monday-Friday.

The Health Fitness Specialist is an integral role in the success of our worksite wellness centers.
